What is Nutritional Medicine?

Nutritional Medicine is a scientific field that explores the relationship between food, nutrients, and health. It encompasses the study of the therapeutic potential of food, diet, and nutritional supplements and how they can be utilised to enhance health and well-being.

Who Requires the Services of a Nutritionist?

In our opinion, everyone can benefit from the expertise of a Nutritionist. Similar to how successful individuals surround themselves with advisors and coaches to help them attain their goals, a Nutritionist acts as your personal health coach, providing guidance, education and support in their nutritional goals. Whether you are seeking treatment for a pre-existing condition or hoping to prevent future health issues, a Nutritionist can help.

What are the Benefits of Working with a Nutritionist?

A Nutritionist will provide you with a comprehensive understanding of your current health and the impact that diet, lifestyle, relationships, stress, and workplace have had on it. Additionally, you will have access to:

– Specialised testing, including iridology, zinc, live blood analysis (Chelsea Heights location only), salivary cortisol, stool testing, and food intolerance assessments.
– The most effective natural therapies and medicines.
– A compassionate listener who will work with you to set achievable health goals and provide coaching and support along the way.
– The opportunity to regain your health, happiness, and vitality.

How Long Will it Take to Experience Improvements in Health?

The duration of treatment required varies based on how long a person has been unwell. In general, it takes about one month of treatment for each year that an adult’s body has been out of balance. Most clients notice improvements in their symptoms within 4 to 6 weeks of starting their treatment plan. The process of treating underlying causes can take between 3 months to 2 years, depending on the duration of imbalances.

Why Does Treatment Take So Long?

The effects of dietary and lifestyle changes are reflected in newly generated cells, which take varying amounts of time to replace. For example, red blood cells turn over every 4 months, liver cells take 12 weeks, skin cells take 6 weeks, and some digestive cells take 5 days to regenerate. Other organs and bones may take up to 18-24 months to heal and repair.

What Qualifications Does a Nutritionist Possess?

The ideal qualification for a Nutritionist is a Bachelor of Health Science with a specialisation in Nutritional Medicine.
Additionally, a Nutritionist should be a member of a reputable professional association, such as ANTA or ANPA, and continuously engage in ongoing education through seminars, webinars, and short courses.
Our Nutritionists also have specialised training in Bioimpedance Analysis and Gut Health.

Are Nutritionist Consultations Covered by Health Insurance?

Nutritionist consultations are usually covered by private health insurance policies, however, it is dependant on your level of cover.
It is recommended that you verify your coverage details with your insurance provider before booking an appointment.
